Dr. Karim El Solh

Dr. El Solh has over 18 years’ experience in private equity, investment banking and asset management. During his four year tenure as CEO of The National Investor, the bank was ranked ‘Best Private Equity House in the Middle East’ by Banker Middle East and ‘Best Equity House in the UAE’ by Euromoney for its leading IPO franchise in the Gulf region.
Other career highlights include the structuring, marketing and execution of European LBOs and high yield issues at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. This was preceded by roles as a senior banking specialist in Equity Investment Banking at Citigroup Salomon Smith Barney and as a senior advisor to emerging countries on a number of major privatization projects at PricewaterhouseCoopers.Dr.
Karim has a BSc in Civil Engineering from Cornell University, an MBA from Georgetown University, a PhD (summa cum laude) in Economics (focused on privatizations) from the Institute D’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Science Po) and a CMA from the Institute of Certified Management Accountants.
In 2007 Dr. Karim was voted both ‘Young Global Leader’ by the World Economic Forum and one of the ‘Top 100 CEOs in the Gulf’ by CEO Magazine.
